Welcome to the Heads & Tails Pikesville 5K Run/Walk and Doggie Dash!

Registration will open Spring 2024. You will be able to register for the 5K and Doggie Dash by clicking the link above, which leads to our RunSignUp registration. (The information below is also on RunSignUp).

Hundreds of runners and volunteers take part in the Heads & Tails 5K Run/Walk & Doggie Dash. We are excited to present this fun 5K for a second year in a row! The morning’s events will feature a 5K Run/Walk (dogs can participate in this event), a Doggie Dash, a Vendor Village, and a Post-Race Celebration!




Early Bird 5K Registration: $30 through May 30 (one runner; or, one runner plus one dog, optional). Limited spaces at this price.
Standard 5K Registration: $35 through August 30 (one runner; or, one runner plus one dog, optional). Limited spaces at this price.
October 5K Registration: $40 through September (one runner; or, one runner plus one dog, optional)
Race Day 5K Registration: $45
  (one runner; or, one runner plus one dog, optional)

Kids 5K Registration: $25 – Ages 12 and under (includes a cotton t-shirt) – discount will be applied at check-out.
Doggie Dash Half Mile Registration: $25 ; $35 after  (one dasher; or, one dasher plus one dog)
Kids Doggie Dash Half Mile Registration: $15 — Ages 12 and under (does not include shirt. cotton t-shirt can be purchased during registration for $10)
No refunds or transfers: there are no refunds of entry given or transfers of entry permitted for this event.


Enjoy a rolling course on the tree-lined Garrison Forest School campus. Course details are the same as 2023; we will update the map shortly.

Race Morning Bib Pick Up: Onsite from 7:30 am – 8:30 am


Pre-Race Warm Up with Garrison Forest School athletes. Commemorative t-shirt guaranteed for the first 300 runners/walkers and kids registered by July 30 (Note: Doggie Dash ages 12 and under does not include shirt. cotton t-shirt can be purchased during registration for $10); water stops; on-site first aid; on-site veterinarian. Post-race snacks and bottled water. Vendor Village and Kids Korner with family-friendly activities through 10:30 a.m. Our HOT BREAKFAST is back! Our legendary hot breakfast feature that took a break during the pandemic is BACK with caterers like The Classic Catering People participating!

Parking will be available on Garrison Forest School Campus.

Doggie Dash Details & Course

Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know for you and your pup to have the best possible experience at the First Annual Heads & Tails Doggie Dash. For help with your personal fundraising page, donations, and other technical questions, please contact our race manager.

Our First Annual Doggie Dash will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2024 on a separate ½ mile grassy course at Garrison Forest School.

Online registration is $25. This fee includes one handler, a commemorative t-shirt, and a pet bandana.

Doggie Dash Course
Our Doggie Dash course is a ½ mile grassy course on the pet-friendly campus of Garrison Forest School. All dogs must be on a non-retractable leash. You can run, walk or jog at your own pace with your leashed dog. The Doggie Dash is strictly a “fun run” and is not a timed event. Most participants enjoy a leisurely stroll.

The Heads & Tails 5K
The 5K is separate from the Doggie Dash.
The Doggie Dash is a separate event and takes place at 10:00 a.m., not far from the 5K course.

Doggie Dash Prizes
We will have fun pet prizes for the pups that come in first, second, and third place. The race is not timed and winners will be determined by our Doggie Dash Celebrity Judges—all in good fun and for a good cause!

Doggie Dash Race Bib 
All registered Dashers and their dogs will receive a race bib. Avoid the line by getting your bib and commemorative t-shirt at one of our pre-race day Packet Pick Up locations.

Pet Festival/Vendor Village
In addition to the Heads & Tails 5K and Doggie Dash, all participants can take advantage of the many free activities at the pet festival! Be sure to have your race bib with you to show you’re registered!

Heads & Tails Fundraising 
Fundraising can be fun and rewarding with a great cause! Participants and non-participants can help raise money for Reed’s Rescue. Be sure to set up a fundraising page during the registration process.

How do I win prizes?

  • By reaching fundraising milestones!
    Earn prizes by reaching the five fundraising milestones: $65, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, and $2,500. The top three individual and team fundraisers will receive terrific prizes from our participating sponsors.
  • By attending the event!
  • By participating in our weekly fundraising challenges!
  • Be sure you’ve opted in to receive emails so you don’t miss our weekly Mutt Mail e-newsletter. Every Monday, we’ll reveal a new fundraising challenge with the chance to win exclusive prizes.

Fundraising Deadlines
The top three individual and team fundraisers will be announced at the Doggie Dash starting line on September 22, 2024. To be considered for a top fundraising category, all in-person cash/check donations must be received or hand-delivered to Greater Baltimore Chamber at least 48 hours prior to the event.

All online donations are credited to fundraisers automatically and will count toward prize milestones. Online donations must be made no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on September 22, 2024 to qualify for prizes.

Prizes for Fundraising Participants
Fundraising prizes will be available for pickup at a special event. Stay tuned for more details on exciting prizes for each fundraising milestone from our sponsors and local businesses! Prizes can also be mailed to you for the cost of pre-paid shipping/handling.
